Phil Mickelson is in the winners circle once more, finally!
Mickelson won the World Golf Championship (WGC) this past weekend in Mexico in a playoff against Justin Thomas. Thomas (-14) was tied for the lead going into his last whole of the tournament. Thomas, who was many groups ahead of Mickelson holed out on 18 to take a two-shot clubhouse lead.
Mickelson was on hole 14 at the time of the hole-out. After a couple birdies, he came into the 18 hole at 16-under-par himself and made par to force a playoff with Thomas.
The pair went to the par-3 17th hole to settle the match. After Thomas flew the green, Mickelson was whole high for birdie. Phil two-putted for par while Thomas could not get up-and-down, leading to a bogey.
Mickelson wins the WGC-Mexico championship for his first win since The Open Championship at Muirfield in 2013.
