Center Jalil Okafor has been requesting a trade away from the Philadelphia 76ers since early in the 2017-2018 NBA season. A team that has seen high growth in their young star players such as Ben Simmons, and Joel Embiid originally had plans to involve former number three overall pick, Jalil Okafor in the process.
Unfortunately for Okafor, he found himself sitting on the end of the bench each game this season, seeing minimal minutes of playing time and many DNPs. Okafor has only played in two games this season.
He now gets a chance to reinvent himself, and show the NBA world his skills. Okafor is headed to the Brooklyn Nets, a team with plenty of playing time available. Although point guard D’Angelo Russel is sidelined after autoscopic knee surgery, the addition of Okafor adds to their young core. The Nets will look to build around Okafor and Russel in the future.
